Tasty Tuesday with Vanessa & Vicki of FoodbellyPDX

We caught up with Vancouver-born sisters, Vanessa and Vicki, who now reside in Portland, Oregon and are tasting their way through the city. These two have an appetite for food, travel, and adventure. The pair started their Instagram account @foodbellypdx in October 2017, follow them to find out where you can find the best food venues in town.

Read on to find out our five burning questions.

Cold Tea Collective: You’re both Vancouver born bloggers, what made you both want to move to Portland?

FoodbellyPDX: Vicki moved first in 2013 for work, plus her husband is from Portland—so it worked out great! Vanessa would road trip down to visit Vicki about two to three times a year, until she finally made the move herself in 2016.

Cold Tea Collective: Besides constantly making our mouths water, what are both of your passions in life?

FoodbellyPDX: We both share an insatiable appetite for adventure. Whether it be booking a spontaneous flight, weekend road trip or just checking out a new spot in town, we both LOVE trying new things!

Cold Tea Collective: What advice do you have for all of the aspiring food bloggers out there?

FoodbellyPDX: Funny enough, while we’re both huge foodies, neither of us seriously considered blogging when we lived in Vancouver until we moved to Portland. We saw how amazing the local food scene was here, but also saw the serious lack of representation of what you might call “authentic” Asian food. Our first post on Instagram was just a bowl of noodles, but it got reposted by a large food network media group and it just grew from there!

Cold Tea Collective: What’s your favourite restaurant to this day?

FoodbellyPDX: Kachka is one of our favourite go-tos in the city. It’s a popular Russian restaurant, which isn’t really a cuisine we’ve had much of while in Vancouver. This restaurant really helped introduce Eastern European flavors to the local Portland palate. Their Siberian Pelmenis (Russian dumpling) are highly addictive and always hits the spot!

Cold Tea Collective: Where can we expect to see you next on your list of travels?

FoodbellyPDX: Vanessa was recently in Phoenix last month for work and is headed to Nashville for fun this weekend! Vicki is pregnant and laying low on travels, getting ready for her baby girl (aka foodbaby!) to arrive end of July!
