Melanie Ang is a marine biologist and policy advisor turned food entrepreneur. During her research and backpacking trips, she witnessed firsthand the impact that plastics can have in the oceans. She founded Backcountry Wok, a food manufacturing company, to eliminate plastic packaging and address food waste. By working with retailers and producers to source food that might otherwise go to waste, she creates nutritious and multicultural dehydrated meals in 100% compostable bags. When not dehydrating carrots or pitching Backcountry Wok, she can be found hiking, climbing or scuba diving.
